Acupuncturist, tattooists, skin piercing and electrolysis

Any person and all premises engaged in the business of acupuncture, tattooing, skin piercing and electrolysis must be registered with the authority and must comply with the bye laws relating to cleanliness and hygiene of premises. This requirement also covers the practice of semi-permanent make up.

The law requires that each premises and each person engaged in acupuncture, skin piercing, tattooing and electrolysis must be registered separately with the authority.

The registration of a premises plus one operator costs a one-off fee of £139.02. Each additional individual operator registration costs £43.99.​

We recommend that anyone who is considering applying for a license first contacts the environmental health team for advice. Please email fsa_enforcement@halton.gov.uk and an officer will get in touch to advise you further.

Fees

• The registration of a premises plus one operator costs a one-off fee of £139.02
• Each additional individual operator registration costs £43.99.​

• The fee for a premises plus one operator is £139.02.
• The fee for a premises plus one additional operator i.e. premises with two operators is £183.01
• The fee for an additional operator at a premises with an existing license is £43.99
