New web filtering solution
Applies to - All Schools

Dear Colleague
You will be pleased to know that from April 2018 Halton ICT Services is introducing a new web filtering solution to ensure that schools and academies that purchase our web filtering SLA are fully compliant to meet the Prevent Agenda.
The new web filtering solution Smooth Wall will be provided to schools and academies at no additional cost to the charges already in place for this SLA. The new web filtering solution will provide schools and academies with improved real time content filtering, protecting all users at schools from inappropriate or illegal content, anonymous proxy usage, and internet based malware. The filtering will cover all devices from desktops to ipads at an appropriate level of filtering.

This solution has been developed in order to fulfil the schools duty of care and to safeguard pupils and staff against online threats and harmful content . We are advised that these will meet all necessary Ofsted requirements and Prevent Duty Legislation.

What do you have to do? – nothing at the moment.
I will be in touch shortly with each school and academy that purchases Council's web filtering SLA to ensure that you have the right level of filtering applied to each device and user in your school.
For schools not taking the Halton ICT Web Filtering SLA for 2018/19 we would recommend that you ask your current ICT provider whether the web filtering they provide meets the Prevent Agenda. If not you could consider purchasing this service from Halton.
