Privacy Notice - Data Protection
Applies to - All Schools and Academies

A Privacy Notice must be issued to learners at a school and academy. A learner might receive the Privacy Notice as part of a school brochure or induction pack or in a school diary, and/or it could be posted on the school notice board

It is anticipated that young people who have the maturity to understand the nature and the implications of the request they are making and who have a general understanding of their rights under the Data Protection Act, should generally be able to request to see their personal information themselves under the Subject Access Provisions (Section .7) of the Data Protection Act. For children under 12, their parents will generally act on their behalf. In every case, it will be for the school or academy, as Data Controller, to assess whether the child is capable of understanding their rights under the Act, and the implications of their actions and so decide whether the parent needs to make the request on the child's behalf.

Copies of the required privacy notice is attached for you to use - you will see that you will need to add relevant information about your school / academy.

 Many thanks

Curriculum Resource
Applies to - All Schools

With the summer holidays now over and the Mersey Gateway Bridge nearly completed this is an opportune time to bring your attention to the Curriculum Resource Pack which Halton teachers have compiled and made freely available for other schools to use.

The resources have been arranged around three themes:

 - Bridge to the future: careers and possibilities for the Liverpool City Region and the UK.

- Bridge to the past: the history of the Mersey, bridges and crossings.

- Bridge for all seasons: focus on the environment, geography and ecology

- Building Bridges: focus on STEM subjects

Also included are two slightly older packs which nonetheless include lots of useful resources:

 - Curriculum pack for developing citizenship at KS3

- Curriculum pack for design and technology at KS2

The resources can be downloaded at https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/mersey-gateway-bridge-curriculum-resource-pack-11341243.  Anybody can create a TES account free of charge and many teachers will already be familiar with TES.

It is a constantly growing resource and if any teachers would like to add to it they are very welcome to – please email ces@halton.gov.uk

Halton Children and Young People's Speech and Language Therapy Services

 Applies to - All Schools

Halton Borough Council and Halton Clinical Commissioning Group have been working in partnership on an exciting new development in Children and Young People's Speech and Language Therapy services.

We have taken the opportunity to jointly commission the service so it is delivered by a single organisation to all children and young people in Halton with speech, language and communication needs.  The Council and the Clinical Commissioning Group will share responsibility for all parts of the service and for children and young people's outcomes.  Services will include delivery of high quality, evidence-based provision and specialist assessment and intervention for children and young people with needs at all levels, provided in schools, nurseries and other education settings, in clinic and in a range of community venues.

The organisation that was successful in being awarded the contract is ChatterBug Ltd, a provider of speech and language therapy services within other local authority areas; further information can be found on their website

The new service started on 1st September 2017. Children and young people who were previously receiving speech and language therapy services will continue to receive them, where possible from the same therapists.

To refer a child or young person to the service, please complete the online referral form using this link: Referral Form. For all other queries, please contact the ChatterBug team on 01928 511075.
